My work involves finding good people who can provide thoughtful support to people who need assistance to do a variety of things, usually meeting more people and building relationships, investigating personal interests and sometimes, finding paid work. There are a range of ways I do this, including mining my personal contacts, using Facebook groups relevant to the person's interests, posting carefully-worded advertisements in places likely to be frequented by people who share an interest with the individual I am working with. But, I'm wondering if others have other ideas about where I might find more people? It is not my main role, but something that is very important to the people I work with. Thanks! Sarah.
My son has utilised the local Universty and TAFE campuses, sporting groups/clubs, local associations, etc to establish formal and informal supports. This has led to an increase in informal supports and the building of natural relationships. Hope this helps.
