Hello All!  I joined the network recently and did not get a chance to reply to the responses I received and now cannot find my way back to that thread.  I currently teach part time at Fanshawe college.  I teach Person Directed Planning.  I feel SRV would fit perfectly into what I am trying to create with this class. I recognize many of the authors I respect and use in my class on this network and would love any advice on how to implement at a college level.  I find there is a disconnect with what we teach and what students need to learn and I am hoping to bridge that gap.  I graduated from the Disability Studies program at Ryerson in 2008 and am now getting my Masters in Eduacation in hopes of attaining a full time faculty position.  Someone asked me if I knew Judith Sandys and I was fornuate enough to have her as a co-instructor with Catherine Frazee for one of my classes. Someone from the network also gave me a couple of names of people at Loyalist College.  I do not work there but I have been researching colleges that I feel are very progressive looking for contacts and advice and Loyalist really impresses me.  So thank-you for that.  Any resources or tips that reach beyond for people with disabilities that anyone feels would work for my Person Directed planning class would be greatly appreciated.  Sorry for my late response.

Hi Dannielle,

I think it is great that you are trying to bridge the gap because I agree with you. There is a huge gap in terms of what we give (or in your case teach) people and what they actually need. I don't have much to do with providing paid services to people but do find that they are the barriers that people constantly hit when talking about inclusion and freely given relationships.
I remember the blog post you added in response to me and I am not sure how to guide you back to that thread! Ha ha. I just go to my home page and find it there. But I am not sure how to help you get there.
Good luck in your endeavours and keep us posted!

Renee :)
