I have never had the good fortune to hear John Mcknight speaking but his writing is thought provoking, frightening and inspirational.  I tell everyone about him and carry a battered old copy of the Careless Society everywhere with me ( have had it since was current then and is current now.)

I just got off the grassroots grantmakers call with John McKnight about "The Abundant Community". Good call with 140 people around the country who are interested in this idea of building the bridge to citizenry. They offer a variety of learning opportunities including calls and webinars on a variety of topics. Check them out at Even if you are not a funder, you may find some really interesting things here.
