I know a couple people who have completed the training. Most of the DDSO's have a self-determination contact person who can tell you what is needed.

Has anyone gone through the Start up Broker/Support Broker training through OPWDD? Any words of advice about getting started?

I am really grateful for this year's Minnowbrook conference. It is reassuring to see how cool my son John is when given a nurturing environment. I guess that is true for all of us!

One of the things that really stuck out to me this years was the number of young people who are working in the field and how Minnowbrook opened their eyes to the bigger picture that parents see everyday. The two days was really amazing and to watch some of the transformations was the opportunity of a lifetime!

I've been waiting for this group... thank you to the industrious soul who started it. (Jack, if you are the industrious soul, I am not ignoring your friend request; I just can't figure out how to accept friends. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took to figure out how to post a picture.) - Dee

Two quick points:
If you click on (or paste) the above URL into your 'browser' you will find all the photos I took during the workshop. They are for you to use - but not commercially. The have the 'creative commons' license which means you can download - and attribute - but not for commercial purposes. If you are going to use a photo of someone in particular, please be respectful and ask their permission.
To download, from flickr, if you select the photo(s) you like, a click on them they get larger. Do that again and you will see a small menu on the top right - "view all sizes" - select the size you want - and you can download it. Enjoy.

* Some of you were at the Waddie Welcome "Read". We hope you took a flier about the opportunity to join the world in a 'big read' starting now - with Waddie Welcome. Shortly, there will be a web site - which will have all kinds of suggestions, links and network options if you are thinking of joining us. There will also be a link on our inclusionnetwork site very soon. Think about trying a reading - starting now with your family and friends. Then think bigger. We think it is a powerful tool - and so wonderfully simple to do. Just get the book and enjoy.

* Think about checking in and staying in touch through:

* If you are looking for resources, some good ones are available from Have a look.

Hope you all had a safe journey home. Enjoy the rest of the summer. And we hope to see many Waddie Welcome reading reports as you begin some new adventures.
