TSI Welcome is INFORMATION for travel - for Toronto - and the Institute

If INCLUSION is your passion - you need to be at the Toronto Summer Institute.  It will be a gathering of about 130 'like minded' people from around the globe - who have heart, soul, commitment - and are struggling to figure out how to build a better world from their families, friends - for all of us.  If that sounds a little like you - join us.  Get connected, invigorated, renewed and recommitted.  It's a pick-me-up for the soul.

Amazingly, almost three decades ago, a little summer institute was created to support families and nurture leadership.  It was an outrageous idea with almost no funding and a small gaggle of committed 'visionaries'. Some things don't change very much.

This summer, the Toronto Summer Institute will hold it's 26th 'Institute' on July 7-12, 2012..  We missed a couple of years. But remarkably it continues.  Our focus this year will not be 'the past' - but looking to the future.   However, it is worth remembering that over these 27 years, people just like you have come from every continent (except Antarctica)  to Toronto and Montreal, and returned home to 'make a difference' about inclusion in their families, communities, organizations and nations.

So if you are wondering about how to sort through the endless impending chaos and cutbacks, come and join us.  We don't have solutions, but we do have great questions.  And with like minded deep thinkers who will struggle and celebrate together - we will leave 'renewed' in our commitment, fresh with new perspectives, questions, approaches - and reaffirmed in fundamental values that strengthen us to move forward relentlessly.

The energy to keep us on track is the unrealized capacities and talents of people who are 'excluded', and need our partnership to lead us into a better future for all.   They are ready, willing and able - if we choose to partner to build the futures we want - with them.

Heading Toronto in the morning for my second TSI - and this time bringing a team from our my network.  Looking forward to another wonderful experience and reconnecting with the amazing TSI family.

TSI is an amazing event, hosted by brilliant, loving, perceptive and incredibly helpful people.  The participants bring a wealth of experience and commitment, sharing in a spirit of inquiry and celebration.  I have learned the importance and value of inclusion from so many people over the last few summers in Toronto.  The invitation for everyone to give the gifts they bring as individuals is awesome.  If there's one event you won't want to miss, it's TSI.  I strongly encourage you to join us this summer.

I have been so fortunate to attend TSI 3 times, and each one of them has been a profund and renewing experience. For me is more than the learning aspect of it, it is going back to re-chrage my batteries and renew my faith in what is possible. It is my time to feel accompanied and belonged.

I also go back to see the friends who have taught, inspired and moved me

I have to go back for more ...

Simply.. TSI changed my life. I first came to the Summer Institute twenty years ago.. and everything turned up side down in our family from despair to possibility. And each year as I come back, and my daughter Annie has come now too.. I feel the roots are deeper of my confidence and capacity as we all see each other each year.. new friends and old friends. I feel like we are a garden of turnips stuck in the ground deeper each year, all together more and more able to weather any wintry storm together, and bend towards spring.

TSI creates space to think, relax, renew and connect... it reminds me of what is POSSIBLE when energy is directed to the 'right' place and when people commit to working together. Explaining what happens at TSI is nearly impossible as it is a venue that must be experienced to be fully appreciated! .

Years ago, several friends and I participated in 2 different inclusion institutes hosted by Jack, John, Lynda and others - this experience was the catalyst for us to develop a local learning community. As a result, we  created our own 'mini' inclusion experience that includes an annual 'retreat' (6 years and counting).

I am hoping to be able to return to TSI - maybe even to celebrate 25 years!!

TSI is like great homemade mac and cheese - very comforting, filling, a little unpredictable, great to share, simple, yet complex, a bit naughty-feeling - all that good stuff all at one time,  creates a sense of being home and you always want to come back for more!

Hi Becki,

I wrote something when I came home from TSI in 2009: http://inclusionnetwork.ning.com/profiles/blogs/experiencing-inclusion

I had decided that I would aim to get there every 3 years; that seemed ambitious but feasible. But, here I am, a year and a half later, planning my trip to Toronto this summer. 3 years was too long (though certainly easier to achieve than getting there this year... but I'll do it!)

I think the 'immersion' aspect of it was important to me. We exhasuted ourselves by talking, talking, thinking, LISTENING, reflecting, listening, talking... and I stayed up too late doing it, but still got up every morning for mindfulness practice.

I also think there is something incredibly powerful about that number of people who want a better world, coming together to work out how we can achieve the change we want to see. The exchange of ideas and techniques strengthens and enriches the inclusion movement.

Can't wait!!!

Linda

For me TSI means many things.

There are more deep thinkers with similar values under one roof at one time than any other event I have been to.

We have deep thinkers with much wisdom from many years of experience which gives a sense of history to where we have come from and where we need to go.

The fact that the process in developing the market place and througout TSI models what it is we want to do in the work i.e. empowering individual and community to take the lead in creating the world we want is very powerful.  We also have a lot of fun. I learn so much from people from all over the world.

I gain great strength and hope every time I attend the TSI.

TSI grounds me in what is truly important in life.  It serves as an avenue for conversation, reflection and creativity.  With only 1 visit under my belt, it has already become the fuel to my fire.

Short and sweet...

Summer institute allows the time and space to slow down, think, converse, and just be. All of this within a group of like minded people living for inclusion. This creates unimaginable energy and rejuvination.
