Profile Information

Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the Inclusion Network online community.
I am a Learning Support Teacher who will be facilitating a Life Skills program at the secondary school level. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past 25 years so am new to teaching at the secondary level and feel I have lots to learn about inclusion for secondary school students.
What part of the world do you live in? Would you share a bit about your neighbourhood?
Canada. I live in North Vancouver in British Columbia.
What would you like to contribute to this community? What would you like to receive?
I would love to share some of my thoughts and ideas about inclusion...things that have worked for me as an elementary teacher. I would like to receive some support from my secondary school colleagues.
How did you hear about this community?
I heard about it through our Transition document.
What are some of the questions you'd like to explore, or conversations you'd like to have with others in this community?
I would like to explore how to best meet the needs of the complex learner I will be learning with. I am particularly interested in making my Life Skills program experiential and nature based possibly through a community garden project which would be open to all students in our school. I would like to create a sense of belonging and community where friendship/relationships happen naturally. Rather than through creating separate programs more of a holistic and inclusive approach.
