Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the Inclusion Network online community.
I am ED of Positive Behavior Support Community Foundation. We have recently started a Self-Determination Sustainability Focus Group comprised mostly of parents of individuals that have self-directed budgets on Long Island, NY. We also have professional and clinicians. I am a Licensed Behavior Analyst.
What part of the world do you live in? Would you share a bit about your neighbourhood?
Long Island, pop >3 million with many individual towns and micro-cultures. I live in Smithtown, north shore of Suffolk County, not far from Stony Brook.
What would you like to contribute to this community? What would you like to receive?
Not sure what to contribute, but willing to share. My 1st thought is that our group stands to gain more from yours...but one never knows...
How did you hear about this community?
Familiar with the work of O'Brien and Pierpoint, Beth Mount, etc. Searching around the web for resources led me here.
What are some of the questions you'd like to explore, or conversations you'd like to have with others in this community?
We (the focus group) are looking to benefit from the experiences of others as we try to ensure true self-determination and lifelong community integration. Our group members what to find answers to the big question: "What happens when I die?"
