Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the Inclusion Network online community.
My name is Lindsay!
I love working with people. I have always enjoyed when I get to collaborate with others around me and learn something new. I appreciate differences and exceptionalities, talents and gifts. I value that we are all different from each other; I always think about how boring the world would be if we were all the same.
I studied Therapeutic Recreation at the University of Waterloo and received a Hons. Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Recreation, Co-operative Program. I am passionate about working in this field of health care because it takes creativity and imagination. How amazing is it that we can use things that people enjoy doing (hobbies, interests, etc.) in a purposeful and strategic way to provide a therapeutic experience for individuals?!
I want to join the Inclusion Network online community to be with like-minded people, to learn and to grow professionally.
What part of the world do you live in? Would you share a bit about your neighbourhood?
I live in Toronto, Ontario. The neighbourhood has so many resources to offer and explore.
What would you like to contribute to this community? What would you like to receive?
I would like to contribute creative ideas and therapeutic interventions I have created. I would like to receive new resources, ideas, and learn from fellow group members to provide high quality service to people we support.
How did you hear about this community?
I heard about The Inclusion Network from OIFN.
What are some of the questions you'd like to explore, or conversations you'd like to have with others in this community?
Topics I am interested in are sexuality and disability, what does inclusion really mean, finding meaningful and purposeful activities/programs, and quality of life.
