LOV Dane Newsletter from Madison and from Australia Belonging.. Aging in Community DVD

Posted on March 31, 2010 at 7:00pm 0 Comments

LoV Dane is a community organization in Madison ,Wisconsin started by families their loved ones with disabilities, and their neighbors, growing to involve lots of people from all walks of life working together for a better Madison. Families getting organized, and 'working together on what they can't do alone' is one of the most powerful opportunities for community building for inclusion I think... particularly now when there is such an urgent need amid economic pressures for innovation and a… Continue

The Circle Way: A Leader in Every Chair

Posted on March 28, 2010 at 12:30pm 0 Comments

There have been discussions in the ABCD and Inclusion group about circle practice or community circles. Beyond Welfare in Ames, Lov Dane in Madison, and many many other places around the world use circle practice to build connection, find meaning, and discover new possibilities. I am learning more about this simple profound way from Beyond Welfare and Lov Dane and many others. I love circles and how it changes the way people are together. I want to suggest a wonderful new book "The Circle Way:… Continue

The Curly Pajama Letters: What is Worth Doing and What is Worth Having?

Posted on November 25, 2009 at 10:56am 2 Comments

I have loved reading and rereading this little book of letters between Mr.Curly of Curly Flat and Vasco Pajama in "The Curly Pajama Letters". Alan Sloan read some of the book to me, and Heather Simmons gave the book to Alan. I have been sick a lot this past two years. My health is now getting better. I am becoming different now. I am learning at last how to slow down and let go more. Much of my life in the past has been about making things happen. Effort, effort, effort. Now I'm interested more… Continue

We Need Both To Succeed: Person Centred Work and Community Centred Work (ABCD organizing)

Posted on September 14, 2009 at 11:30am 5 Comments

I have spent most of my life working in community organizing. Since 1993 I have worked with the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to community organizing. Community organizing work is to bring groups of people together to work on issues together that they cannot address alone. Community organizers ‘organize an organization of people’ to act out of common concern, out of care. Collective action work is as old as humankind. We sit in circles, and talk about what matters, we get… Continue

I got your message and thought I had responded, but then when I went to my page, I pressed something and I think I lost you on it. Oh well - technology! Anyway, I hope we figure out how we know each other.

Hi Mike. I hear that you will be at the Maps/Path gathering here in Toronto next month. I will be there also. I hope that we will have a chance to say 'hello' and chat a bit. There have been a few things lately that have crossed my mind and I have thought ... "I should ask Mike Green about that in October." See you soon. Hope you are having a great week. - Becki

Hi, I was at TSI and there was a gifts/talents/abilities assessment that was talked about. I know the document it's in is one that has to be purchased, but I didn't get the name of the actual document . Could you tell me where I would find that? Thanks

I wish so much I could come to your course in September! It would be great to do some further 'immersion' in these themes. Sadly, there's no way I could get there. But I wish you well with it - perhaps you will post some things on here? Keep in touch, anyway. :)
