Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the Inclusion Network online community.
In my work I support people who need it in order to be able to live as independently as possible. I think it important to support in my focus on discovering and exploiting the individual possibilities and interests of the person.
I strive to support these people in their control over their own life and to make a connection to the environment/ society in which this person is alive.
What part of the world do you live in? Would you share a bit about your neighbourhood?
I live in a small village in the province of Zeeland in Netherlands. In my village people know each other and greet each other when they encounter on the street. The landscape is flat and spacious and the sea is nearby.
What would you like to contribute to this community? What would you like to receive?
I would like to contribute and sharing my experience in supporting people who communicate on non-verbal manner and little to no use sign language or other support language.
Central to this how to support these people in control of their own lives and the role they can play in their environment/society.
Through my work in a living initiative set up by parents of people who need support I have knowledge and experience in working in a small setting. My goal is to get this to work for others and to spread the benefits.
How did you hear about this community?
I heard of the community on the training of MAPS & PATH in april 2013.
