Bolshy Divas...An Australian contribution to the world

We are in Australia.. and this past week we have encountered the work of the Bolshy Divas..

John O'Brien, Connie Lyle O'Brien, Lynda Kahn and I - and we're all impressed... and want to share their wisdom..

We think there are 'sisters in spirit' everywhere - and their incisive analysis, delivered with humor and spice in a powerful contributor to a healthy debate about the future of support services for people - in Australia and beyond.

So here is a link to their web site - and I have attached one of their recent papers...

Special Note:  in 48 hours the Divas mustered 100 family stories - available as a download..

Good stuff.  the Bar has been set high..  Let the competition begin..

Jack: I've wanted to head to the Toronto Museum of Science hopefully this Summer; we have the Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) in Syracuse, New York. Would it be good to connect in Canada; Marcia Rioux seems to be on Skype; Gordon Porter was one of our doctoral students as was Zana Lutfiyya; and John Lord and Peggy Hutchinson did come in on our meetings on individualized funding. I can be reached on the cell at 315-533-6592. Zana's on as editor on the book, The variety of community experience: Qualitative studies of family and community life (Taylor, Bogdan & Lutfiyya, 1995).

Hi Jack, this looks great!  Complementary to Bolshy Divas is Back to Back Theatre, a highly subversive and artistically terrific company of professional actors with developmental disabilities. They're based in Victoria, but they tour, so maybe.... I saw them in London last year and was blown away by their show Food Court - never seen anything like it.
