I have something very vital to disclose with you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me via my direct email(firstname.lastname@example.org) for more details. Have a nice day,
Jack and Lynda! It was a privilege to host you and deepen the conversation started at the Te Puke workshop 2 weeks ago!! Thanks for making the time in your busy schedule - your visit reaffirmed my motivation to help channel the voices of our people through my video camera lens!! I will upload my video clips onto this Ning community to share with and learn from others. Take care and see you again soon!!
I would first like to comment on how my attendance at the DUI 2012 and all the wonderful people that I met changed my life. After being unemployed since January 2011, I am now sitting in my office on the top floor overlooking the centre of Campbelltown in Sydney helping guide a major local Disability Support Organisation change its culture towards more Person Centred Approaches. Maybe culture is the wrong word but I am giving fellow people with a disability a voice and I feel like I am being heard. I also believe that the senior management in the organisation understand that person centredness is more than a tool or a form, its a way of life. I have a lot of challenges ahead of me, families, staff and introducing choice to those that have never really had a choice, never really had hope that their dreams could ever be realised, especially with those that are skeptical and think that person centredness is just another fad, or have been promised so much that has rarely been delivered. But I am excited and believe that I can make a difference despite the challenges that lay ahead. I am a true believer and am grateful for the leadership and friendship that so many at the DUI showed me that gave me the confidence to be where I am now.
Thank you for your warm welcome into this online community! Eventually I hope to be able to contribute as much as I take away from this group. I see that there is a wealth of information and resources among the blogs and archived posts, and I look forward to putting some of these ideas to work here in Dahlonega
Hey, have you seen the final book version of Defining Moments yet? You NEED TO SEE IT!! It's the project that Michele Banks called you about a few years back and Lynda referred over to me ... oh ... we had FUN!
Hi Jack. Thanks for your message. Yes, I do know Linda and Heather. I used to work at EDG with Steve Coulson and prior to that worked at SHS. I met you a few times in the mid '90's when you were over working with SHS - at Telford College etc and I was part of the team that you facilitated two PATHS for - amazing experiences in many ways! So I've been on the 'scene' in Scotland for about 15 years and still totally passionate about person centred planning tools and what they offer to people. Helen x
I have done so Jack - you sound like you have plenty to do without feeling the need to help me with pictures! :) Some time I'd like to pick your brain about editing wee films... that's for another time though.
Thank you Jack, for thinking of us in the cold Scottish Autumn, needing the warmth of a story like Mr Welcome's. EDG is excited about waht we can do with it to bring people together for readings and thought-sharing/ -generating. i am excited about bringing it to friends and community members who aren't so involved in the work we do. I am most excited right now about it arriving through the post! (We ordered it via Inclusion On-line, but my co-worker didn't realise the urgency so it's only just been ordered...increased anticipation...) Warmest regards to you all. x
Love the network design!
Thought about you all the other day went to the network......thanks for your post on Micah!
All is good.............I am sure you will have some great "rogue" stories.
Hi there ~ am fully immersed in all the learning opportunities that some 13 hours can allow a soul at LAX. (Let's not talk about baggage check that's not open for a handful more hours or the fact that Qantas flies out of 2 terminals and I happen to be flying out of the OTHER one that does not have a qantas club attached to it). Aside from that all is peachy! lol. Honest, It's all good, just not as convenient as I would have mindlessly apprecited. Longing can do that heart good. Right now I long for some good coffee.
I hope your sleep was full and deep and that you are on the 'other side' of this thing feeling that 'really tired but it was SOOO worth it' swirl of though and emotion. It was a great time indeed. WIll Skype your hello to Cuddles, when he returns to the computer from getting his morning cuppa joe from our kitchen. Lucky Duck he is! Send a big smoochy-kissy thing to Lynda. I hope you two don't have much more pressing on you today that whatever it is you FEEL like doing. Peace and I'm going to go back to ignoring incessent flight departure announcements. THinking......THINKING......aaaaarrrrgh!!!
.... I never would have thought that!
I am looking forward to seeing you all again next week, too.
Did you notice that we are at 199 members! The natural growth that is happening here on the network is quite remarkable. It will be neat to use it as a resource with the Toronto group next week. See you Monday. - Becki
